Russia invaded Polish airspace the night of September 10, 2025. Russia attacked Poland with Iranian Shahed drones, and Poland promptly shot down most of them.
President Trump’s tepid response to the incursion was, “What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!“
Less than a month ago, President Trump warmly embraced Russian dictator Putin in Alaska. Ostensibly, Trump met with Putin to reach a peace agreement for Putin’s misadventure in Ukraine. During the campaign, he promised the conflict would end THE DAY he was sworn in. However, absolutely nothing positive came out of the August meeting. The USA and Ukraine received no benefit from the encounter. Moreover, the crestfallen Trump lost a chance to win his coveted Nobel Peace Prize. The only winner was the man who is a pariah to the civilized world, Vladimir Putin. He strutted onto the world stage, proving to the world that he is a big man and that Trump is truly our TACO President.

Trump has proven that, despite all his bravado, he has cast the USA as a wingman to minor authoritarians like Netanyahu or as supplicants to even bigger authoritarians like Putin. Former New Yorker Trump is the opposite of America’s traditional foreign policy, best stated by fellow New Yorker Teddy Roosevelt, “Speak softly and carry a big stick.”

Unless Trump actually takes a definitive action against Russia, we will all know that Trump’s foreign policy is “Speak loudly and carry a small stick.”

We are not sure if this is Trump’s little stick or an uneaten chicken leg.
Will Trump stand up to Putin? It is more likely that he will take out his bullying aggression on Venezuelan boats or immigrants working in factories. Maybe he will invade the Heard and McDonald Islands to collect tariffs from those recalcitrant penguins.
