The central premise of this website is based on the belief that political, economic, and religious extremism forces those on the boundaries of reality to circle their wagons, irrationally defend their extremism, and create painful mental states for themselves. Many of these folks are “tag-along” extremists. While “true” extremists proudly display their extreme beliefs, “tag-alongs” quietly follow their exuberant extremist leaders. The “true” extremists usually go down with their unsinkable Titanic, but the “tag-alongs”, with some degree of self-preservation, jump into a lifeboat before they find themselves and their families underwater.
A key indicator of extremism is the inability to balance or even perceive divergent facts and points of view. Extremists typically criticize someone for doing or being the same things they routinely do or are. It is like a fat man calling another person fat. The old saying of the kettle calling the pot black is a form of mental hypocrisy, or the Tu Quoque fallacy [a type of ad hominem attack that discredits an argument by pointing out the hypocrisy of the person making it, rather than addressing the argument’s validity.]
Committing the Tu Quoque fallacy is not the only indicator of extremism, but it is a key marker. I am not endorsing or taking sides in the debate over the fate of New York City. I have not lived there for over 36 years. I know almost nothing about the new mayor. Although I would never align with the chaotic extremism of the current president, I cannot unquestioningly endorse the new mayor or comment on whether his positions are grounded in reality.
The following YouTube short video painfully demonstrates the unreality of one collection of extremist and often bizarre positions. The hypocrisy by Fox News and the current president is clearly palpable to anyone who understands the meaning of the kettle calling the pot black.
I don’t email one of our Texas senators, Rafael Edward Cruz, very often because I feel it’s a waste of time because he truly is dedicated to being evil and not having a conscience and is a true “extremist”. John Cornyn is our “tag along” as he has changed his position on many issues through his many years in the Senate especially since the dictator in chief has taken control. However I email him all the time to voice my opinions since he brags about not agreeing with Trump all the time, only 99% of the time! He really is risking the wrath of the Almighty Orange Jesus, by disagreeing with him an astounding 1% of the time, but at least there is a tiny bit of hope when emailing him.
