Peter Thiel and Elon Musk were among PayPal’s founders who injected their DNA into the company’s operating procedures. Many of us may have used PayPal while doing business with eBay or other companies that have PayPal as an option. I used PayPal once to buy a used golf driver on eBay. I used them only once because a few months later, someone sent me a $2,000 laptop, which I hadn’t ordered, and charged my PayPal account.
Since I will never use PayPal again, I have not followed their activities over the years. There was a recent article by someone who used PayPal recently. A tool called “Honey” associated with PayPal makes it “easy” to apply coupons on e-commerce websites. Isn’t that great? A tool that makes it easier to do business. What could possibly go wrong?
Unsurprisingly, an industry-leading internet service called Trustpilot gives PayPal a 1.3 rating on a scale of 5 stars. I am sending this email if you are tempted to use the “easy” PayPal link instead of another option the next time you buy something. I am frankly surprised that PayPal is still in business. I guess it proves that some people accept risk better than others.
