President Trump recently called in the cavalry to rescue Washington, DC. A member of his DOGE squad (aka, Big Balls…that’s what Trump calls him) was mugged, and Trump had an excuse to call in the National Guard to make Washington safe again. He claimed he has a mandate to reduce the violent crimes in this city.
Interestingly, Washington, DC’s 2024 homicide rate was seventh among all American cities. Shouldn’t Trump have first called in the National Guard to the six more dangerous cities?

Likewise, Trump invaded Los Angeles to round up all those immigrant murderers. What was the homicide rate in Los Angeles? It ranked 21st among U.S. cities. Los Angeles’ rate was 7.0 per 100,000 population. He called in the National Guard to the 21st most dangerous city, but how about cities in Tennessee, Indiana, and Ohio? Doesn’t he care about the citizens in those states?
Of course, sending in the National Guard to “police” any city is like sending hundreds of welders to bake cookies for the Girl Scouts. The National Guard has yet to be armed and is not allowed to make arrests. They are just like the man with thick orange makeup…they are just for an expensive show. Maybe Trump should fly some B-2 stealth bombers in from Missouri to frighten all the miscreants?
He delayed calling in the National Guard on January 6, 2021, when the Nation’s Capitol was overrun by violent “patriots.” However, he calls in the Guard to patrol the seventh most violent city, but doesn’t call in the Guard in more dangerous Republican states like Tennessee, Indiana, and Ohio. The folks in those states probably watch Fox, so they probably have not heard about the crime in their states.
Someone might say there is no rhyme or reason to Trump’s enforcement efforts. However, that would be incorrect. Like his international diplomacy approach, he bases his decisions on gut instinct and his fake macho personality. If he likes a horrible dictator, then he cuts him some slack. If he dislikes a close ally, he attacks him. If the politicians in red states kiss his ring, then he cuts them some slack and keeps the military out of their states. Those politicians who remind us all that he is a fake…he sends in the National Guard.
Trump’s actions are blatantly unconstitutional and confrontational. If America’s Supreme Court had not fallen into the Mar-a-Lago bed of our dictator wannabe, we would not see military-trained troops parading around in Blue cities.
I feel sorry for the members of the National Guard. Except for the gung-ho, Christian Nationalists, why would a professional soldier want to bake cookies for the Girl Scouts? I am sure that many have daughters in the Girl Scouts, but spending weeks or months away from their regular careers and family should not make them happy soldiers.
