One of Elon Musk’s brilliant true believers was fired about a month ago. Did he make a big mistake? Did he blow up a rocket? Was he the designer of Elon’s Cybertruck? Was he the primary point of contact between Elon and President Trump? Why was he fired?
Sulaiman Ghori was fired because he was so enthusiastic about working for Elon that he inadvertently spilled the beans. About a month ago ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jN60eJr4Ps ), Sulaiman waxed enthusiastically about his work for Musk’s xAI. He validated and reinforced the Musk mode of operation, which consists of zero bureaucracy, fanatical devotion to the task and leader, disregard for human laws, attention to physical laws, and unlimited resources.
Sulaiman was a brilliant engineer who succeeded at everything he did. Elon never told him, “No.” He always got the resources he needed. However, he revealed the existence of a project known as “Macrohard”, which is a play on words derived from Microsoft.
Macrohard hit a physical limit while training its artificial intelligence (AI) systems. It needed human emulators to test and train its systems. Human emulators are computer-based systems programmed to respond like humans while testing and training AI systems. Musk could hire four million real humans, but that would cost too much money, and besides, humans are too slow and troublesome.
Macrohard could rent or buy more computers to operate their four million human emulators, but that would cost money and take time. So, what did the Macrohard project do?
Unbeknownst to four million North American Tesla owners, Project Macrohard secretly became Project Macrothief. Instead of Musk spending money on electricity, cooling, hardware, engineers, and software, Project Macrothief would wake up Tesla vehicles sitting in American garages around 2:00 AM to serve as human emulators for three hours. Macrothief would use Tesla owners’ electricity, hardware, and Wi-Fi!
What are we to make of this? Is it theft? Is this an example of the coming new economy? Do we now consider modern digital systems to be so “free” or “abundant” that we no longer meter them? Most Tesla owners probably live in nice houses, do not count pennies, and might not care if Musk sneaks in their garage at 2:00 AM.
Should we consider Project Macrothief a brilliant example of Musk’s clever business approach? Should we go to our broker and buy stock in all of Musk’s companies? Should we expect Pam Bondi to investigate Elon’s business practices?
The Suliaman podcast revealed another facet of the Musk modus operandi. The mythology of a sweatshop work environment at Musk companies is not a myth. In fact, it is worse, unless you believe exploitation and slavery are positive values. Not only does Musk require total loyalty and devotion, but for critical activities, he also forces work teams into a single room for up to 48 hours. I assume they have hall monitors to check permission slips so people can relieve themselves. Perhaps this is the ultimate benefit and Achilles Heel of our new Gilded Age of capitalism. Young people trade their creative years to work in a sweatshop to create insanely great things for a 0.0005% share of a company that may or may not make it. If you go to minute 37 in the video, you can hear Suliaman discuss how much his stock value changes daily. So, it is not a sweatshop, but more like a casino. Maybe “exploitation” is not the correct term; maybe it is simple greed or a more advanced form of avarice?
Suliaman was Musk’s number one fan, and he called himself Musk’s “fanboy”. However, like any employee who either violates one of Musk’s sacred rules or is no longer useful, that person is gone.
God forbid that a Musk employee have a family. There are many incels (men who want to have sex with women, but cannot get a date) who are unlikely to have a family and qualify for Musk’s employment in this respect. In fact, Musk himself proves it is possible to have 15 or so Musk children without needing a family. Maybe he gives incels hope? If you have enough money, you can have sex without worrying about the obligations of a family.
God forbid that an employee asks a question like, “Isn’t that illegal or immoral?” God forbid that an employee reveals how Elon skirts or violates government laws. God forbid that an employee reveals how the sausage is made.
Sulaiman’s podcast referenced above is over an hour long, but it is worth the time if you are the least bit curious about the dark side of Silicon Valley (which is moving to Austin…watch out, Texas!)
I saw yesterday that all the money DOGE (Elon) saved us during his escapade was surpassed in losses by friendly fire which shot down the three fighter jets in Kuwait. On the other hand, the great DOGE “savings” have been dwarfed by the first 100 hours of Trump’s war which is not a war according to Secretary of State Rubio. It would be nice to know if we really are at war since half the Pubs say “we aren’t about regime change” but Trump must approve (basically hand pick) the new leader. Sure glad he’s been adverse to foreign entanglements or we might be in WW III by now, but at least Elon is busy stealing from Tesla owners and doesn’t have time to get involved right now.
