With the twin themes of history and truth matters, this video explores the coming crisis posed by the impact of artificial intelligence and robotics on American society. However, America has a strong tradition of resistance to collective action, which often leads to dysfunction and chaos. Paraphrasing Winston Churchill, America tries everything else before doing the right thing. America’s tendency to default to the pioneer, rugged individualism might have worked well in the 19th century, but it might get in the way of progress in the 21st and 22nd centuries.
The following video examines our puzzling journey of America’s progress and asks: Where are we heading? Every day, we witness incredible technological advancements, yet our social development appears to be regressing to a state reminiscent of the 19th century. There is little awareness of the crises emerging from this imbalance between technological innovation and social evolution. Instead of making America great again, shouldn’t we try to make America BETTER? Isn’t one of our founding principles “to form a more perfect union?” Currently, we are going in the opposite direction.
